Fussen Nobility

Scholarly interest in Europe's nobilities has gathered pace over the past two decades, as the elites who exercised political and social dominance over an extended period have begun to receive adequate scholarly attention. This has been particularly evident for the early modern period of European history, when the importance and power of individual aristocrats and of the nobility as a whole were at their apogee. This collection of authoritative essays, leading national specialists examine the nobility of a particular country or region, on a systematic basis: they analyse the structure of the particular elite, and survey its political and economic activities, as well as the social and ideological basis of its own position and power.

Jerzy Lukowski shows the pressures and tensions, both from below and from governments, which increasingly challenged traditional ruling groups in Europe during the century before the French Revolution. The position of the nobility depended on a stable world which accepted their authority; but that world was becoming fractured as a result of social and economic developments and new ideas. Lukowski explains the basic mechanisms of noble existence and examines how the European nobility sought to preserve a sense of solidarity in the midst of widespread change.

Committee of Privileges of the Maltese Nobility - The Committee of Privileges of the Maltese Nobility is an association for deciding succession, new titles, and general issues concerning the recognised titles of nobility of Malta. The committee was formed in 1882.

Spanish nobility - The Spanish nobility is the system of titles and honours of Spain and of the former kingdoms that constitute it. The nobility includes various titles that may be inherited, but the inheritance and creation of titles is entirely at the grace of the King of Spain.

Assembly of Nobility - Assembly of Nobility or Dvoryan Assembly ("Дворянское Собрание") was the self-government body of the social class ("сословие") of dvoryanstvo in Imperial Russia during 1785-1917. The Nobility Assemblies were at the guberniya and uyezd levels.
